San Francisco-based Digital Realty recently revealed the closing of its joint venture with Brookfield Infrastructure, an affiliate of Brookfield Asset Management, one of the largest owners and operators of infrastructure assets globally.
According to a prepared statement, Brookfield acquired approximately 49% of the total equity interests in the joint venture, which owns and operates Ascenty, the leading data center provider in Brazil.
“We are pleased to have closed the joint venture with Brookfield, our exclusive vehicle for data center investment in South America,” said Digital Realty Chief Executive Officer A. William Stein. “We see a significant runway to support our customers’ digital transformation within an historically under-served region poised for rapid growth, and our partnership with Brookfield provides unique local expertise with a longstanding legacy of successful infrastructure investments.”
Digital Realty Chief Financial Officer Andrew P. Power added, “We are delighted to partner with Brookfield to finalize the permanent capital structure for our highly strategic investment in Ascenty. We believe this platform represents a compelling growth opportunity, and we expect it will be accretive to financial metrics over the intermediate term, and highly accretive to Digital Realty’s long-term growth profile.”
